Volunteers are needed year round to prepare meals and maintain the shelter. During the holidays, fundraisers and other special events we rely on volunteers to help out with many activities on and off site.

Volunteer with Good Neighbor Center

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

  • In-shelter meal host volunteers

As a meal host volunteer, you will prepare and cook a meal for the nine families at our shelter at any given time. Alternatively, you can drop off a ready-made meal from a third-party food service organization. Dinner takes place between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, after which meal host volunteers will clean the kitchen and dining room area. Volunteers can either come as an individual or a group. We have the capacity to accommodate groups of up to 5 people.

  • Shelter Support Volunteer

As a shelter support volunteer, you will assist with cleaning and organizing around the shelter’s indoor areas. This will include the pantry, storage shed, children’s program, and linen closet, among others. This volunteer opportunity is available on Thursday and Saturday between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

  • Groundskeeping Volunteer

As a groundskeeping volunteer, you will maintain the shelter’s outdoor areas. This includes weeding, planting, trimming, cleaning, and other yardwork. This volunteer opportunity is available on Thursday and Saturday between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

Adults and children 16 or older (with a guardian) are eligible to volunteer.
